What We Do
Here at My Swim Guide, we believe in reducing the risk of drowning by empowering parents who can swim to teach their kids to swim.
We empower parents by (1) providing free step-by-step guides that teach parents how to progressively teach their children water safety and swimming skills AND (2) providing safety tips and information while around pools and other water bodies.
Important Note: If you cannot swim and could not rescue your child if he/she were drowning, you should either have a certified swimming instructor teach your child to swim OR learn to swim yourself BEFORE teaching your child.
Why We Do It
Below are some unfortunate statistics that drive our mission of helping parents teach their kids to swim and reducing the risk of drowning.
According to the World Health Organization, approximately 236,000 people globally fatally drown each year, and drowning is a leading cause of death for children.
In just the United States from 2010 to 2019, an average of 3,960 fatal unintentional drownings occurred each year, which was about 11 deaths per day, according to the CDC.
These numbers are scary!
That’s why we believe if more parents learn how to teach their children to swim AND know the proper safety precautions around pools and other bodies of water, these numbers can be reduced.
